Interaction effects between building- and multi-energy systems design variables

By simultaneously considering geometrical and energy systems design parameters, synergies between building demand supply can be exploited in the of low-carbon buildings. However, existing literature lacks explicit quantification such synergies. This work investigates parameter interdependence problem (energy demand) respective Multi Energy Systems supply) for buildings city Zurich, Switzerland. is done using two global sensitivity analyses sequence: first, a Morris screening to identify subset most important then Sobol analysis quantify their individual (direct) influence shared (through interactions) on output. The workflow includes sampling real geometries, simulations with EnergyPlus/Honeybee, multi-energy optimisation Mixed-Integer Linear Programming model. Results show that (interactions) building- has significant impact variance cost carbon emission outputs, particularly emission- rather than output variance. Additionally, parameters are likely interact, followed by systems, lastly parameters.
